Reading is the doorway to lasting happiness

September 10, 2024by Kelvin Nyamache4

I have learned over the years that reading is the doorway to lasting happiness. It is through reading that the mind finds peace, that the heart finds purpose. If you want to change the world, begin with yourself. But how do you change yourself if you do not read? In this modern time, those who refuse to read cannot hope to transform their lives. They cannot move forward, and if we cannot move forward, how can we lead our country into a better future?

There are many who choose to ignore this truth

They shrug, they laugh, and they say it does not matter. But I tell you, the path to true progress lies in reading, in learning, and in practicing what you read. When you read with purpose, with a clear mind, you begin to see the world differently. You begin to see yourself differently.

Our political leaders, those who hold the reins of power, have forgotten this simple truth. They wander in darkness, blind to the light that reading brings. Those who are meant to guide us, our professors, our professionals, must remember their duty. They must inspire the masses, lead them back to the path of study. If we are to remain a nation of hope, we must first be a nation of readers.

This is a serious matter. It is not one to be taken lightly. If we want our country to grow, if we want our people to thrive, we must teach our youth the value of reading. We must retrain them, reshape their minds. They must learn to love the written word, to find joy in the pursuit of knowledge.

Our children must be taught to read until their eyes are sore, to study until their minds are sharp. It will not kill them. On the contrary, it will give them life. To study is to live fully, to breathe deeply of the wisdom of the ages. The schools must teach this. The churches must preach it. The youth must be guided on this path, for it is the only way forward.

We cannot continue with these meaningless pursuits, these shallow distractions that lead us nowhere. We must repair our minds. We must rebuild our nation through the simple act of reading and studying. No matter how old we are, no matter how tired we feel, we must never stop learning. It is the only way we will survive. It is the only way we will thrive.

Study is hard, yes. It is harder than working in the fields, harder than playing football. It demands more from us than any labor of the body. It takes time. It takes effort. But in the end, it is worth it. In the end, it is what will save us.

Look at those who steal from us, who cheat and lie. They have power, yes, but they have no peace. They have wealth, yes, but they have no happiness. They have forgotten the joy of learning, the satisfaction that comes from a mind well-fed with knowledge.

We must do what is right.

We must study, not just for ourselves, but for the future of our country. For the future of Africa.
